14 artists from Armenia, Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, Madeira, South Korea, South Africa, Cyprus, the USA and Switzerland, living in their home countries and abroad, have come to Basel to participate in this year’s Edition/Basel Session 2. All of them will use the Druckwerk in the Warteck as an experimental print laboratory for twelve days. After an initial group formation process, the concept and title of the joint exhibition are developed on the first day of the project. After that, printing takes place individually or in collaboration. The exhibitions that follow reveal what has grown up during the days of being together and printing together, at first wildly proliferating, then gradually into a common whole. Gert Handschin will realize a work on the theme – but outside of printmaking. The artists origins, their personal interests and preferences, their ways of working and thinking – transferred into a common idea – each imprint a new view on the spatial body of the exhibition space.
