The project is a cooperation between the Colombian graphic designers Diego Aguilar, Kevin Llano and Angelo Nieto and the Basel artist and graphic designer Lisanna Keller. They created graphic posters that address the issue of extractivism in Latin America and in Colombia in particular, the associated political and social consequences, and the economic implications for Switzerland.
The title of the exhibition "Deformación Programada" (Programming of a Deformation) refers to a system that is designed to generate profit and at the same time destroy itself. Why do we as a society fail to take the necessary measures and stop the progressive destruction caused by the
extraction of raw materials, even though we are aware of the consequences of our actions and consumption? Are there possibilities how we can communicate this issue more concisely through visual communication?
The artists in the exhibition attempt to look at these urgent questions surrounding the issue of extraction from different perspectives. In doing so, they take up the concept of deformation on an aesthetic level.
The exhibition was shown at Alianza Francesa in Armenia, Colombia in August 2022 and is now on display at KASKO Basel.
