The festival name SALT & PAPER symbolizes the interplay of two artistic disciplines, namely the media of "sound" and "movement" in free improvisation. In addition, SALT & PAPER stands for one of the important characteristics of improvisation – a characteristic that goes far beyond the "unpredictability" guaranteed by the term: emergence. emergence is a characteristic that characterizes all open creative and social interactions, including development processes in music or dance rehearsals. Only stage improvisation, however, is able to make it possible for an audience to experience emergence in real time and in its purest form. The simultaneity of creation, performance and reception unfolds an atmospheric pull and performative magic of its own kind.

Independent of the original plot... from the sensual experience of listening to music, dances are created with a sense of anticipation and preparation, as well as some premonitions of the events to come and the characters who will appear. Voutchkova/Duthoit Biliana Voutchkova (violin) & Isabelle Duthoit (clarinet, voice) Isabelle Duthoit and Biliana Voutchkova founded their duo in Paris in 2023. Both artists are experienced instrumentalists and have a very individual vocabulary that encompasses both their instruments and their voices. The duo explores the rich potential of this encounter and plans to release a debut album.
